John Harrington, M.D.

John N. Harrington Jr, M.D.John N. Harrington Jr, M.D. is a native of Columbus, Mississippi. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Subsequently he was admitted to the University of Mississippi  School of Medicine and received his medical degree in 1980.

Dr. Harrington returned to New Orleans to complete a residency in Internal Medicine at Tulane University School of Medicine and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at LSU Medical Center. He began practice of Gastroenterology with the Metairie based Browne-McHardy Clinic in 1987, until co-founding East Band Gastroenterology in 1999.

  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine in 1984
  • Board Certified in Gastroenterology in 1989
  • Clinical Assistant Professor, Tulane School of Medicine, 1988 to present
  • Medical Director of the Alliance Endoscopy Center, Metairie, Louisiana
  • Active memberships include the American College of Gastroenterology, American Society for Gastroentestinal Endoscopy, the Orleans Parish, River Parishes, and Louisiana State Medical Societies
  • Active Staff affiliations include East Jefferson General Hospital, River Parishes Hospital, Alliance Endoscopy Center in Metairie, and the South Lake Surgery Center in LaPlace
